All About Goal-setting and Achieving

Why Goal-setting and Achieving?

Primarily, my intent with this blog is to create many series of posts that are focused around different goals. Each initial post will explain what the goal is, why I am working towards it, and how I intend to achieve my goal. I also want to share general goal-related tips with you that can help you to achieve your goals as well. My hope is that we will work towards our goals at the same time, making progress together and inspiring one another.

Qualifications

So what qualifies me to talk about this topic? Here are my credentials: I’ve completed 10+ training seminars and classes and participated in long-term programs that focus on the process of goal-setting and attainment. I have a life coach/mentoring certificate that I earned by completing a program wherein I learned how to help people work towards their goals. My husband and I have mentored couples and individuals and have seen our clients achieve incredible results in short periods of time.

Dare to Dream Big

More importantly, I’m a dreamer, I always have been. Big dreams, small dreams…I love to imagine what could be, but for a long time I didn’t know or understand that there is a process to setting and attaining goals that, if applied consistently, works every time. My passion for goal-setting/achievement is what drives me to dream and my passion for dreaming is what drives me to set goals and work towards them because they go hand-in-hand. As a result of putting this formula into practice, I LOVE working towards my goals.

Some of the goals I’ve achieved in the past six years include:

  1. Grow and harvest from my own garden
  2. Go camping and hiking with my family
  3. Be an “Extreme Book Nerd” at my library (it required reading 50 books from 50 categories within a 50 week period; accomplished five years in a row)
  4. Teach a marriage class with my husband
  5. Be debt free (besides the house)
  6. Get a new, cute wallet
  7. Save up for and travel to Florida with Curtis (my husband) for an amazing adventure (we went to theme parks and on a cruise; here’s a link to my favorite travel planners)
  8. Have a profound spiritual experience in nature
  9. Start a blog
  10. Design, build, and move into our new house
  11. Save up for and travel to Europe with Curtis (we went to Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, and The Netherlands–AMAZING!!!) (you can read more about how I saved up for this trip here)
  12. Take our kids to Disney World
  13. Pay cash for a new family car
  14. Train for and run a half marathon (click here for my favorite training app)
  15. Teach my children to love serving–serve someone with the kids for 7 weeks in a row

To Inspire

I share these goals I’ve achieved, not to boast, but to inspire you! Because if I can, you can achieve your goals too! I’m a normal person like you. I am a homemaker, homeschooler, wife, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor, church-goer. But before I started implementing goal-setting/attaining as part of my life I felt lost and discouraged about my future. I could see in my mind what I wanted my life to look like, but my reality was so different. My husband and I were in debt, living paycheck-to-paycheck. We didn’t have any idea how we were going to live the life of our dreams. Now we know how to live the life we want and we are doing it.
